Normally, I’m not a fan of ‘student work’, e.g. work done while in school. For the most part, it feels unfinished and a bit amateurish (at least, the way I view my past work… but I am overly harsh on my self).

However, this video that I created while in school is something I am very proud of, even a few years after I made it. The project was to create a video using Adobe After Effects to do the editing and rendering. Simple.

I have always been a fan of artwork that makes you think. But not just think about what the artist is trying to say. I like work that makes you think about the reason behind WHY the artist is trying to say what they’re trying to say. I tried to capture that with this video. It is very abstract and can be interpreted in many ways.

At first glance, it’s pretty easy to see that this was inspired by the amazing film, Waking Life. I used Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator to ‘rotoscope’ the original footage (not quite rotoscoping, but close enough). This process took DAYS. Lots of testing, tweaking, and batch editing.

Even though this is still classified as student work, the blood, sweat, and tears put into it justifies it being shown to the world.

I was tasked with creating the first HTML email for a private winery in Northern California, Epoynmous Wines. Given PDF versions of their current brochure as a source of copy and some design cues, I set to work creating something simple yet elegant; trying to appeal to the target demographic (more conservative) while still keeping an edge.

The next step will be to develop a series of HTML emails to send out information on what’s new at the winery as well as to get more people to sign up for the wine club.

Hopefully soon Elevated Antelope will be taking new product shots of some of the bottles to add to the HTML emails and other printed marketing collateral.

I also enjoy doing body work. I recently decided to remove the front emblem on the 1991 BMW 318ic convertible I’m restoring.

The car is going to be getting repainted red, so the paint on the touched up hood is really just there to prevent rust.

Discharge base and tinted discharge base will be used when these shirts go into production. This will provide a super soft feel, and a very natural color to the wheat.

I hadn’t really done an illustration in Adobe Illustrator since I was in college, but the site I was working on needed some art, and, well, I felt vector art was the only thing that would fit.

I started slowly, creating a C-130 transport aircraft, followed by a V-22 Osprey, with each getting more and more detailed. The Super Cobra started as a Google Image search which I traced just to get the basic outline of the helicopter. Once the main outline was completed, the image was hidden and all the details started to form on the helicopter. The blades were clipped in the original image, so I drew upon my long love of all mechanical things (especially military birds), and created what I felt was the best approximation of the blades I could.

Overall this took about 5 hours to complete (off and on, so this is a rough guess).
